Megacubo online: the web installer and what the application does without an account
“Onlineâ€, here, means two concrete things: the installer the site hands over through the web, and the parts of the application that use the internet — community lists and the program guide. What it is not: a player that runs inside the browser. Playback happens in the application, on your device.
What “online†means on the Megacubo site
The /online/ address on the domain is the path through which the site serves the installation files. Each platform has its own, and the download starts straight away, with no sign-up:
- Windows — megacubo_setup.exe, for Windows 10/11 on x64 and ARM64 (and still Windows 7 or later)
- Linux — x64 or ARM64, as a
.tar.gzpackage - macOS — disk image
- Android, Android TV and TV boxes — app package
Addresses checked against the download links of this section on 2026-10-24. If one of them does not open, the one that counts is on the page for your platform, which is the source the buttons on the site use.
Installing without an app store in the way
- Pick the platform — the list above, or the page for your system, which covers what changes on each one
- Download the file — the download is direct and asks for no account, e-mail or form
- Install it on the device — the installer on Windows; the extracted package on Linux; the mounted image and the app dragged across on macOS; the app package on Android
- Add your list — the first step inside the application, covered in adding an M3U playlist
The walkthrough for each system, with the details that go wrong in practice, is in installing on Windows and installing on Linux.
What in the application uses the internet
- The streams — every channel is a remote stream; with no connection there is nothing to play. 5 Mbps is the recommended minimum for live TV
- Community mode — loads lists shared by other users in the same region
- The program guide — the EPG is fetched from a separate address and refreshed periodically; see configuring the EPG
- Updates — the application looks for new versions by itself, and what changed is in the release notes
What does not depend on the internet is your account — because there is no account. The application runs locally, keeps your lists and favourites on the device, and does not send your list to any server of the project.
What Megacubo online is not
- It is not a web player — there is no playback inside the browser; the installer exists to put the application on the device
- It does not hand over a channel list — the project does not sell, bundle or host TV content; the list is always yours, the community's or a public source's
- It needs no sign-up — no e-mail, no password, no verification to download or to watch
- It is not a subscription service — the Premium licence is optional, a one-time payment, and adds recording, downloads and casting
If you arrived here looking to “watch online through the browserâ€, the path is the other way round: download the application and add your list. The page that explains what a list is, is IPTV list.
Beware of the wrong site
“Megacubo online†is an expression used by pages that are not the project's, some of them with bundled installers. The official domain is megacubo.tv, and there is a page just for that: identifying the official site. The application is free and open source (GPL-3.0), so no legitimate copy charges for it or asks you to disable your antivirus.
Frequently asked questions
Does Megacubo run in the browser?
No. Megacubo is an application that runs on your device — Windows, Linux, macOS, Android and Android TV. The site serves the installer and the documentation; playback happens in the application, not in a browser tab.
What is the /online/download.php address?
It is the address on the site that hands over the right installation file for the platform asked for, for instance target=linux64, target=linuxarm64 or target=macos. On Windows the installer is megacubo_setup.exe and on Android the package is served by /bin/package/?os=android.
Do I need to create an account to use the application?
No. The application runs locally, with no sign-up and no login. The Premium licence, when bought, is a key and not an account; and community mode requires no identification.
Are community lists the same as a ready-made channel list?
They are not a catalogue of the project. They are lists other users chose to share anonymously, loaded by community mode. Megacubo does not sell, bundle or host TV content.
